Choosing A Gorgeous Entryway Door

Replacing the Door to Your Shower Enclosure

by Josep Hernandez

Many homeowners will choose to have a shower enclosure added to their bathrooms. These enclosures can help to enhance the comfort of those showering while also protecting the bathroom from water damage due to moisture splashing out of the shower.

Consider Whether the Shower Door Glass Should Be Transparent or Opaque

The shower door can be an important part of your bathroom due to the protection that it can provide from water splashing. However, it can also help to provide a better sense of privacy for the person showering. This can be done by choosing a shower door that uses opaque glass. This will provide a balance between offering privacy to the person showering while still allowing light to enter so that they can more easily see.

Know the Benefits of a Frameless Shower Door

Frameless shower doors can provide the benefit of being more resistant to developing leaks. This is due to the risk of water being able to seep through the gaps in the frame, which can lead to it damaging the floor and the base of the shower. In addition to providing these practical benefits, a frameless shower door is also more likely to be able to provide a more aesthetically pleasing design option. This stems from the fact that there will not be a metal frame that could detract from the overall appearance of the bathroom. These benefits can be enjoyed while still keeping the cost of the door comparable to what would be needed for a more traditional framed shower door.

Be Aware of the Difficulty of Transporting a Shower Door

A shower door can be a relatively large and fragile component to have to transport. This can make it a somewhat dangerous task due to the high risk of breaking the shower door. Even for those who have a truck, it may be a better option to have the provider of the shower door arrange for its transportation to your home. They will have vans or truck switch systems that can make it possible to securely hold these shower doors in place throughout the duration of the trip. Fairly minor cracks can even be problematic as they can become far worse during the installation of the shower enclosure due to the vibrations and stress placed on the glass. To avoid this potentially serious damage to your shower door, avoid attempting to haul these doors on your own.
